I want to point your attention to the fact that Mozilla has announced an "open source support program" where they have allocated $1 million that they will distribute to up to 10 projects that Mozilla relies on: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2015/10/23/mozilla-launches-open-source-support-program/ The program is being finalized and is described in detail here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/MOSS They have a list of projects that they already identify relying on, which already includes some Conservancy projects like bro, buildbot, git, mercurial and selenium: https://wiki.mozilla.org/MOSS/Projects_in_use_by_Mozilla To apply you need to team up with someone within Mozilla, and it looks like you have to submit a formal grant request which we would be happy to assist with. Mozilla does state that they have a reasonably strong preference for funding legal organizations, which is good news for Conservancy's member projects. There is also a reference to "Other Tracks" where they will also consider security audit and remediation for key projects in the future (though no process is identified for this at the moment). The deadline for this grant process looks like it's in December, but I think the biggest component is getting a strong advocate within Mozilla to start working in your favor right away. I expect someone to correct me if I'm wrong. :-) If I'm reading it right, and I may not be, there may be a second phase that might be a better fit for us but it wasn't described in enough detail for me to assess. We should definitely keep an eye on it and talk about it.
