We could leave this very loosely formed and simply state on the list that you will be part of a dine-around that will be going to a designated vegetarian locale. That way no socializing is impeded. That opens it up for others in the community outside of the EOB to meet and chat with you. Regarding location, perhaps we could ask Kathy and some of the other local folks for guidance on this in the event reservations would better suit the group.

Kathy, Will reservations be made for each group? Has the local arrangements committee already developed a roster of restaurant locations? If so, perhaps we can scan for the best dietary option for vegetarians. If none of those options are vegetarian friendly then we can opt for one of Bradley's suggestions.

Bradley, If you are running late, we can hold a spot for you until you get there. Would this work?

Elizabeth

Elizabeth McKinney
PINES Program Director
Georgia Public Library Service
A Unit of the University System of Georgia
1800 Century Place, Suite 150
Atlanta GA 30345
404.235.7141
emckinney@georgialibraries.org
http://www.georgialibraries.org/

From: "Bradley M. The Friendly Toast
might be a good option (it's probably a 5 minute walk from your hotel).
Friendly Toast opens at 08:00 but I'm told there's sometimes a line, so
we may want to plan for getting there at 07:45.

Meanwhile, if having the meeting at the Dine Around is an ok, option,
though, that's definitely better for me, if you don't mind that I
probably can't meet up with you until 18:15 that night [0]. and, if you
don't mind although I'm a vegetarian, so that limits my options.

If you're willing to go to Central Square, there is a rather famous
Chinese place in MIT hacker circles called Mary Chung's. I looks like a
hole-in-the-wall, but what they don't invest in decor (new chairs and
tables, etc.), they make up for in food. There's also Veggie Galaxy,
also in Central Square.

It's admittedly tough to get a big group at those places, as I think
neither takes reservations but if folks want I can investigate if you
give me a number of people.

[0] I have to return a rental car that I'm using to drive up with a
group from New York, and the car return location is at the Charles
Hotel in Cambridge (not far from Harvard Square). If you all wanted
to meet *there*, I could probably meet a half hour earlier. Also, I
can probably get to Central Square by 18:00 if you want to meet at
the restaurant instead of meeting at your hotel.
--
Bradley M.
