Subject: Re: [Eg-oversight-board] 2015 Evergreen Oversight Board Elections: Call for Nominations + Voter Registration

Ah, thanks Kathy. I'll make a note to document the election process for next
round - it can only get smoother ;)

So - two approaches I can see:

1. Ask nominees to submit a brief bio on the nomination deadline (May 1,
giving all nominees 10 days before polls open to get their bios in)
2. Ask nominees to submit a brief bio as part of their nomination acceptance
(via note to the general list soon'ish).

I'm easy - what do folks think - approach 1 or 2?
I'm on the road today - apologies for delays.

Cheers!
Hi Ben,

I have one follow-up question. Last year, the candidates were asked to
write a statement. See -
http://georgialibraries.markmail.org/thread/62mse57e4zse2q6y.

I believe we asked for the statements last year because it was a contested
race. We don't know if it will be a contested race again this year, but
since there is a quick turnaround time between the nomination deadline and
the voting dates, if we do need statements, it would be good if they had
some lead time to prepare them.

Is this something we should be asking them to do?

I apologize for not raising the question during yesterday's meeting, but it
didn't occur to me until this morning.
Greetings,

The nomination and voter registration periods for the 2015 Evergreen
Oversight Board elections are now underway.

Three seats on the board are open this year, each for a three-year term.
Nominations may be made by any individual who has contributed to
Evergreen or who is employed by an institution that runs Evergreen.
Email nominations and self-nominations can be sent to the Evergreen
Oversight Board mailing list. If you have questions or would like
information about what it means to be on the board, you are welcome to
contact the Nominating Committee by sending an email to any or all of:

Rogan Hamby, York County Library (South Carolina) and SC LENDS
Chauncey Montgomery, Sunbury Community Library (Ohio)
Chris Sharp, Georgia Public Library Service (Georgia)
Ben Hyman, British Columbia Libraries Cooperative (BC, Canada)

After confirming the nominees, the committee will announce the nominee’s
names to the Evergreen Community general discussion list.

The deadline for nominations is 1700 Pacific, Friday, May 1st, 2015.

To be eligible to vote, you must either be an individual who has
contributed code, documentation, or other work to the Evergreen Project,
or you must be employed by an institution that is contributing to the
project by virtue of running Evergreen.

Please register to vote by completing this short survey no later than
1600 Pacific, Monday, May 11:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RXVRSKJ

The election will be held on Thursday, May 14th. Unlike last year, we
will not be using the Scottish Single Transferable Vote (STV) System.
Instead, we will be using an OpaVote “ Approval Vote” wherein registered
voters are asked to select their top 3 candidates from a list.
For more information on OpaVote, please see: https://www.opavote.org/

Registered voters will receive an invitation to vote on Thursday May, 14.

Cheers!
