I am so torn about this -- on one hand it is a political cause that
I deeply and personally support, and the passing of HB2 was very
distressing to me; however, I am not sure if it is appropriate of us
as the Board to spearhead something of a political nature where
money is involved. As Yamil pointed out, there may also be an issue
due to our nonprofit status. I too would be more comfortable if
individuals led this rather than the EOB.<br>

Perhaps a statement from the Board to the effect of "in light of
HB2, we wish to reiterate that the Community and Conference are
welcoming to all regardless of race/religion/gender/sexual
orientation/trans* status/etc." that we can put out on the lists and
the website.<br>
<br>
As an individual I'm happy to donate to a collection for a local
PFLAG or other advocacy group.<br>
<br>
Agreed on contacting Tony and talking to the hotel.<br>

at the SFC (as the fiscal sponsor of the conference) to speak
to the hotel venue and explain our concerns with House Bill
2. We want to ensure that they will work with us to make our
conference as inclusive and positive as possible. I think it's
important that the SFC handles this discussion because they
are the signatory on the contract with the venue and because
the host library is a State Agency and I wouldn't want to drag
them into this discussion.</div>
