Please keep us in the loop in case there are cancellations. Our final catering numbers will be submitted on April 18th. Let us know if there is anything we need to do.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts thus far.
I have revised the wording below. This is by no means a final draft, I certainly expect more discussion.

If everyone would prefer to have a quick vote on adding "gender identity and expression " to the current code of conduct preamble prior to getting this position statement out the door, please feel free to make a motion.

~~~~~~
Per the Evergreen Project's Event Code of Conduct https://evergreen-ils.org/code-of-conduct
Evergreen event organizers are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. It is now important to reemphasize that commitment.
In particular, the Evergreen Oversight Board is disappointed that the North Carolina General Assembly has chosen to pass legislation that nullifies city ordinances that protect LGBT individuals from discrimination, including one such ordinance passed by the Raleigh City Council. Since the
2016 Evergreen Conference is to be held in Raleigh, the Oversight Board is taking the following steps to protect conference attendees:
* We are working with the conference venue and hotels to ensure that their staff and organizations will not discriminate on the basis of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
* The Evergreen Conference, via it's fiscal agent The Software Freedom Conservancy, will refund in full registrations from individuals who feel that they can no longer safely attend the conference.
~~~~~~

While NC Cardinal is the local arrangements committee and host organization for this year's conference they are not representative of the Evergreen Conference, just as no conference before them has embodied the "Evergreen Conference". The Evergreen Conference is part of the Evergreen Project itself and therefore needs no clarification or disambiguation. Since NC Cardinal is not mentioned in our statement I do not anticipate there being any issues or confusion on this point.

Thanks!
Grace
