[Evergreen-catalogers] Loading items with Parts!

Hi Kate,

Someone else on the listserv told me how to add the stat cats. CWMARS has
ARIS stat cats for reports required by our Board of Library Commissioners
who need statistics for items added by format and age range.

I added a subfield to my 945 tag that I use for importing items. I used 'w'
as that wasn't used by anything. Pipe characters separate the stat cat name
from the stat cat item attribute. I have two stat cats so double pipe
characters separate the first stat cat from the second. This example loads
both stat cats. We have a third network stat cat which I haven't tried to
load but I think it would be the same. Everything is case sensitive and has
to be identical.

For the parts there was nothing really fancy, just another subfield in the
945 tag, I used 'v' as that wasn't being used. The text in 945$v loaded
into the Parts field of the item record. Just like creating a part on the
holdings edit screen, it created a part when the incoming item loaded.
After I did all that testing I discovered that the volume fields in the
holdings data I was going to load contained everything but volume numbers.
The library used that subfield mainly for series titles so I"m not doing it
for the item load this time. Last year I loaded an academic library with
lots of multi-volume sets. I wish I had discovered that Parts existed in a
holdings profile then.
