[Evergreen-catalogers] Classification Scheme Question

Good morning,

We received a question regarding what the classification scheme for call numbers actually does, and I was not entirely certain how to answer.  I looked through the Evergreen documentation, and all I could find was that it "has an effect on call number sorting," but I am unclear on what that actually means.  Is it a reference to searching by call number via shelf browse?  Or something else entirely?
