[Evergreen-catalogers] Series statement/added entry issue

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone is having the same issue as us:

We have noticed that the 490 $a and 8XX $a/$t fields need to be identical in order to pull the rest of the titles in a series in the OPAC (if they connected by a series authority record).

For example, the following series statement (490 $a) is different from the series added entry (800 $t):

=490 1\$aA 44 Scotland Street novel ;$v17
=800 1\$aMcCall Smith, Alexander,$d1948-$t44 Scotland Street series. $0(NEC)438363

If you click on the Series hyperlink in the OPAC, that database search does not pull the rest of the titles in the series, even though it is linked via the $0(NEC)438363 authority.

The statement ($a) and the entry ($t) have to be completely identical to pull all the results under the authority record. For example, this will work:

=490 1\$a44 Scotland Street series ;$v17
=800 1\$aMcCall Smith, Alexander,$d1948-$t44 Scotland Street series. $0(NEC)438363

But according to cataloguing rules, it is incorrect to do it this way, the 490 should be what is displayed physically on the item, not what the authority record says.

Technically you should be able to put something completely different in 490 $a and still have it link to the authority in the 8XX via the $0 to pull the rest of the titles in the series by searching the OPAC/clicking on that hyperlink, but currently this doesn't seem to be working.

Does anyone have any ideas why or how to fix?
