We get shelf-ready books from Baker and Taylor -- we have them
catalog right in our Evergreen system. Typically they bring in
OCLC records and upgrade them if needed, then add holdings
according to the parameters we've given them. Since a lot of the
company is based out of Georgia, B&T has catalogers familiar
with Evergreen. The shelf-ready service is available under their
"Customized Library Services" and it's worked out well for us,
especially since we're so small! I've found it to be pretty
cost-effective for Kent, and it frees me up to do original
cataloging on local and special items.<br>

are a consortium that recently migrated to Evergreen and are
using the most current version (EG Gold). One of our
libraries would like to start getting ‘shelf-ready’ items
from its vendors. Is anyone familiar with this? Would the
MARC records be loaded with holdings? Is it as simple as
setting up a holdings import profile for the vendor to
follow?<o:p></o:p></span></p>

already have several OCLC members who create items using a
945 tag in OCLC so I did profiles for that and I load their
bibs/items into our database. I also plan to load items from
a Winnebago system into EG where no bibs will be added, just
items and have set up profiles for that. Recently I did a
profile to load MARCIVE bibs/items and was successful after
that vendor was aware of the need to be sure that all item
fields were entered correctly as to capitalization and
spacing.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
