Attached are instructions for using MSWord’s mail merge to print spine labels to laser or desk jet printers.

The initial set-up of Mail Merge in Word is very laborious but, if you save your file you don’t have to do those steps each time. You do have to set up the call number files in Evergreen and Word every time but those processes are fairly easy.

While I have not included instructions to do so, I believe you can adapt the directions to print a partial sheet of labels so as not to waste previously used sheets with remaining labels.

I have been unable to discover a way to use mail merge to print spine/pocket label combinations and am now looking into MS Access. I have made some progress but have not been able to get the spine label portion to format correctly. I can’t get the call numbers to wrap on spaces so that REF 636.8 Crazy formats on three separate lines. If anyone knows Access well enough and can give me any ideas, I would appreciate it….
