<div>Hi Libby, </div><div>I see your custom format icons (nice!) but could you clarify what you mean by format limits? Not sure if you meant for narrowing searches or ?</div><div>Cheers,<br>Melissa </div><div><p><span style="color: rgb(128, 128, 128); font-size: 12px;"><font face="verdana">Melissa Lowenberg</font></span></p><div style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(128, 128, 128);"><font face="verdana">Supervisor of Support Services</font></div><div style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(128, 128, 128);"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px;">Thompson-Nicola Regional District Library System</span></div><div style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(128, 128, 128);"><font face="verdana">300 - 465 Victoria Street</font></div><div style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(128, 128, 128);"><font face="verdana">Kamloops, BC</font></div><div style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(128, 128, 128);"><font face="verdana">V2C 2A9</font></div></div><div><font face="verdana"><br></font></div><div><br></div><pre wrap="" style="white-space: pre-wrap; word-wrap: break-word;">Message: 3<br>Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2013 17:35:52 +0000<br>From: Elizabeth McLean <<a href="mailto:lmclean@kcls.org">lmclean@kcls.org</a>><br>To: Evergreen Community Catalogers<br> <<a href="mailto:evergreen-catalogers@list.evergreen-ils.org" id="ext-gen4444">evergreen-catalogers@list.evergreen-ils.org</a>><br>Subject: Re: [Evergreen-catalogers] OPAC "format" field<br>Message-ID:<br> <<a href="mailto:8C8E2D3AE173614D8A875C8A4E6CCBD25F43EB02@exchangev01.ad.kcls.org">8C8E2D3AE173614D8A875C8A4E6CCBD25F43EB02@exchangev01.ad.kcls.org</a>><br>Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"<br><br>Hello,<br><br>We add the local format codes Lisa listed in her message in MARC field 998, subfield "d" in all our cataloged bibliographic records. In the flat-text editor the field looks something like this: =998 \\$d <value><br><br>Most of our record providers add this field and/or I use a Task in Terry Reese's MarcEdit program to add the field before we import the records. We also use OCLC Connexion macros that I created to add the 998 field before we export records to the catalog. Galen and the other wizards at ESI somehow made those values display our local format icons and format limits in our customized OPAC.<br><br>Libby McLean<br>Cataloging Librarian<br>King County Library System<br><a href="mailto:lmclean@kcls.org">lmclean@kcls.org</a></pre><p></p>
