Hello

Attending the 2017 Evergreen Conference and interested in
acquisitions? Make sure to join us for the acquisitions interest
group meeting on Friday April 7th at 8:00am. All are
welcome whether you use acquisitions all the time or are just
thinking about testing it out.
Bug - ACQ Brief Record form allows creation of empty
records
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/980107

Description of Bug
As it stands, there are no required fields in the ACQ brief record
form (Acquisitions -> New Brief Record) , so it's possible to
create completely empty brief records. At minimum, one field (e.g.
title) should be required.

A further issue is that records created via Acq Brief Record
interface are created without an 008 field - https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1659709

Without an initial 008 it is not possible to edit characters in
the fixed field grid and choosing "Add/Replace 008" doesn't work
(no 008 field is added)

As a workaround, to add the 008 field you must.
- Open the Flat Text Editor
- Add =008
- Uncheck "Flat Text Editor" so you are on the regular MARC edit
interface
- Right Click on 008 -> Choose Add/Replace 008
- Save Record
- You can now edit the 008 in the fixed field grid.
Desired Resolution / Fix
At minimum, one field (e.g. title) and the 008 should be required.
The Acquisitions Interest Group decided at the Evergreen
Conference in April 2016 to try a new form of member engagement.
Rather than holding quarterly meetings on IRC each month an
acquisitions bug will be featured in an email to this list. This
will bring more exposure to some of the acquisitions bugs that
have a large impact on acquisitions libraries and their workflows
and allow acquisitions staff to engage as time permits, rather
than at a specified time.

Get involved by testing your system for the bug, indicating on
Launchpad if you’re affected by the bug, and commenting on
Launchpad or through the list if you have further information
about the bug or suggestions about what you’d like to see in a
fix.

Have a bug you’d like to see featured as an Acquisitions Bug of
the Month? Please email a link to the launchpad bug # to jennifer.pringle@bc.libraries.coop.
