matters for us when loading cataloged items to replace acq items. One of our libraries' vendors sends back the lineitem detail ID number (which was sent in an EDI order) and we used that ID to link to the item attached to the purchase order
so the incoming cataloging information will overlay the existing item. Those loads are set as acquisitions loads.

As a contrast, another vendor does cataloging based on seeing items in our catalog through Z39.50, and they include the copy ID in the cataloging they send to us, and we match on that number. Those loads are set as bibliographic record
loads.

The difference allows us to use the same Holdings Import Profile. We are matching on $n in both cases, but the different load types define the value for $n to be the lineitem detail ID for acq loads and copy ID for bibliographic loads.
