These pre-date our using OCLC as our single source of bib records. We started OCLC only around 1996. Prior to that we created our database with LC tapes and then used UTLAS as a source of records. Before migrating to EG, our previous system couldn't handle the size of our database so it was split between the Central Mass region and the Western Region. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">When we migrated to EG, these two databases had to be re-merged. The original fingerprint for record matching was too strict and had to be tweaked. It wouldn't match "Harper" with "Harper & Row" for example. After the merging we ran a deduplication process that merged all records matching on OCLC numbers. I don't think we merged based on anything else. This did not match the old UTLAS records and those are the ones we are finding now.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">Only central site staff and libraries that are OCLC members can add records to the database.
