From mmorgan at noblenet.org Thu Aug 15 09:34:58 2019 From: mmorgan at noblenet.org (Morgan, Michele) Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2019 09:34:58 -0400 Subject: [Evergreen-circ] Driver's license scanners Message-ID: We're testing a driver's license scanner for patron registration in the web client: https://www.bayscan.com/bayscan-imaging-2d-drivers-license-scanner-clone.html It seems like a great time saver as well as ensuring accuracy of the entered data. We have it programmed to fill in all the patron fields in the right places, but then we need to backtrack on the form to fill in other pieces of data like profile, user settings, etc. For others that are already using this, what are your experiences? Any programming tips to enhance the workflow? Thanks, Michele -- Michele M. We put the cursor in the first field on the patron registration page (the patron barcode) then scan the drivers licenses. Once it is scanned we go back to the top and fill in/verify the information. It hasn't been an issue for us as far as workflow goes to the best of my knowledge. We have had some issues with the programming being different for some of our libraries. We did figure out that the libraries that are using behind the desk holds have an extra field and that throws off the rest of the programming. Also, I have had one library tell me that the screen size can make a difference. The computer at a desk in the back had a smaller screen than the circ computers. It was being tested on the one in the back and was off but when brought to the circ computer it was fine.
