[Evergreen-dev] Git Hosting question

Hi Josh,

Approaches I've seen include:

- just using GitHub or GitLab
- self-hosting a bare Git repository
- self-hosting Gitweb (or Gitea, or GitLab)
- use a repo on git.evergreen-ils.org (and yes, you can request one)

As far as which approach to use, it largely depends on whether a Git repo
alone serves your needs or if you will want some of the workflow features
that GitHub et al. give you.

Basing it on a clone of the Evergreen repo can make it easier to rebase
local changes. Secrets like DB credentials shouldn't be checked in, of
course, but it's easy enough to keep those in a separate private repository
somewhere.

Regards,

Galen
