We have some step-by-step instructions on cloning the Evergreen repo

can start on step "Clone your Evergreen repository"<br>

Hi Gina, to get a copy of the repository on your machine you would
use git clone instead of creating another fork. The green Code
button on your repo page will have the syntax you need depending
on how you use git. To be allowed to push changes back to GitHub
you'll want to use SSH or the GitHub CLI (or if you're using a
GitHub UI it will want something out of there) and your GitHub
fork will be copied down to your computer.
