[Evergreen-general] Icon Formats (& RDA) Discussion

This thread is intended to continue the conversation from the September
Cataloging Working Groups meeting regarding the creation of new search and
icon formats - including those that may pull from RDA fields.  Full notes

The discussion has 3 primary components.

*1.  Document Current Icon Definitions*

existing Evergreen documentation.
I also created a supplementary document

with a visual image and summary of where each of the pieces used in icon
definitions can be found.
Your feedback on this document is welcome.  The supplementary document is
attached and can be found using the link above.

*2.  Identify and Define New Icons*
(a) After reviewing the list of existing icons, please share your
suggestions for new icons that are needed - and suggestions for defining
them using bib record data elements.
(b) If you are already using additional icons at a local level, please
share your image and definition!
(c) There is one new icon that will be included in the 3.6 release --
defined in launchpad bug #1835736

We have a New Icons

shared document for collecting notes on new icons.  It is available to
anyone who wants to add suggestions.

*3.  Multi Valued Fields and Composite Record Attributes*
The CWG Organizing Committee is reviewing record attribute definition
functionality across multiple versions of Evergreen to see what is possible
within the staff client currently.
It is likely that additional developer work/assistance may be needed to
expand definitions to include some RDA fields that we want to use to
differentiate formats.
Our plan is to provide additional documentation and opportunities for
training -- along with preparing new launchpad bug submissions.

There are likely other questions related to icons (and using RDA fields to
define them).  If your questions are not included in these few categories,
please send them along.  We'll keep a running list.  I will add a home for
this discussion and associated documents to the CWG wiki.
