LOCALIZATION FOCUS OF NEW EVERGREEN ILS RELEASE

New localization customizations to improve service and efficiency are the highlights of Evergreen’s new Release 3.9, the latest semi-annual software update.

Notices can now be generated based on the preferred language of the cardholder.

The staff portal can be customized to include local links and documentation. Links and services are able to be added, changed or removed as needed locally for each library or branch to improve efficiency.

A new Simple Reports option focused on ease of use and simplicity is available in the staff client. Intended to provide an alternate access point for running reports, Simple Reports will coexist with the main Reports interface used for more complex reports. Reports and schedules can be edited at any time as needed.

Libraries can share their carousels of cover images of new titles or topical displays developed for the Evergreen catalog to an external site, such as the library's own web site.

Library staff may upload a custom jacket/cover image for a given bibliographic record via a new interface for display in the staff client and OPAC, useful for local titles.

Evergreen can now act as an OAI-PMH data provider, exposing the catalog to harvesting through the OAI2 protocol for larger metadata projects.

Thirty-one individuals contributed code, translations, documentations, patches, and tests to this release of Evergreen, and 22 organizations supported or contributed to the release. The Evergreen community is made up of individuals, libraries, companies, and other organizations that support the Evergreen Integrated Library System.

Evergreen is highly-scalable software that helps patrons find library materials and helps libraries manage, catalog, and circulate those materials, no matter how large or complex the libraries. More than 2,000 libraries around the world use Evergreen.

Evergreen continues to be the leading ILS for consortia and delivers local flexibility and granularity of policies that no other software can match. Evergreen 3.9 delivers the most interoperability for libraries via its truly open APIs. Evergreen is open-source software, licensed under the GNU GPL, version 2 or later and is available to all for download at no cost from the Evergreen web site at https://evergreen-ils.org/<https://protect2.fireeye.com/v1/url?k=998bd410-c610ed36-998f9d10-867666c9b37a-7972b4bc359aa8fb&q=1&e=a44f09c6-e811-483a-93cd-2a80143cac74&u=https%3A%2F%2Fevergreen-ils.org%2F>
