[Evergreen-web-team] Donation Button on Home Page

Hi everyone -- here are my thoughts in no particular order:
1) There is no real branding strategy for Evergreen that I'm aware of
but it's probably "anti-branding" -- and definitely confusing, as Lori
mentioned -- to have SFC's logo right there in the upper left of every
page on the EG site.
2) I don't have data to back this up, but I think "Support" is more
friendly and community-oriented language than "Donate" for a software
foundation (as opposed to "Save the X!" or "Fight Disease Y!"
nonprofits) -- we're currently using both throughout the site.
3) So I see "Quick Links" on the left side of the home page and there's
already a "Donate" in there. Lori, did you mean that you want to put
the "Donate" button on the right sidebar instead?
4) I don't think the Donate page itself (/sfc.php) is structured
effectively. My suggestion would be to keep the donate widgets
themselves near the top for the folks that are coming here and know they
want to donate -- make that easy for them. But the entire visible part
of this page is about the SFC relationship -- you have to scroll down to
see "Why donate?" and *that* should be the focus of the page at the
top. The fact that SFC is a fiscal agent is cool but it should be the
footnote, not the "Why donate?" block.
Using the story-based approach, I'd suggest we also include reports of
recent and historical community support and donations, anything from a
virtual "credits" page up to history of non-dev contributions.
Thanks,
Jim
