Hi,

Greetings. As you can see, I've subscribed the GSoC 2012 students, mentors, and org admins to a new mailing list. This list is for administrative communication, including announcements and policy suggestions, for Evergreen's participation in the 2012 Google Summer of Code. I expect that this will be a low-volume list. One thing to note is that the gsoc2012 list is *not* meant for anything other than discussing administrative details. Technical discussion of your project should take place on broader community mailing lists, which most often means open-ils-dev.

For the students, a couple reminders and notes:

[1] This coming Friday is the LAST DAY for students to submit tax forms & proof of enrollment. If you haven't taken care of this yet, please do so as soon as possible.
[2] If you haven't already gotten in touch with your mentor, please do so ASAP.

More broadly, although each student will be working closely with his mentor, I strongly encourage that communication about the status of your project be done in the open. In particular, I strongly suggest that every student send a weekly email to open-ils-dev during the coding phase to inform the other Evergreen developers and interested observers about your progress, and I also encourage every student to set up a blog for frequent (ideally daily) updates. If you need hosting space for your GSoC status blog, please let me know. Your mentor may have other suggestions for communicating status updates.

Regards,

Galen
