Hey Grace:

This is based on what's in your Jabberd config.  For testing or
single-server installation, you can use the "ChopChop" server
(Mike/Bill/Jason will likely explain this for you).  ChopChop was
developed in the early stages of Evergreen , and is a "dumb" jabberd
(it doesn't require "real" users.  Likewise, it can be considered
insecure (On a single-server system, firewall rules can "fix" this).

PINES uses a separately-configured jabberd in their multi-server
cluster environment.  I'm sure one of those guys will be glad to give
you some web resources on how to get started in
installing/configuring/using jabberd.
