There is no such thing as "lowly" when it comes to trying out
Evergreen! Your goals are very similar to the goals of most of the
rest of us, I'm sure.

By the way, I just tried out bridged networking for the first time
with the Gentoo VMWare image. It works fine for me; you just have to
run the perl command I specified in my previous message to find out
the real fully-qualified domain name, then change the <evergreen> ...
</evergreen> start and end elements in /openils/conf/opensrf.xml to
<new.host.name> ... </new.host.name> before starting up osrf_ctl.

I'll add some instructions about that to the README, as I can see how
bridged networking would be very useful for demo and evaluation
purposes.
