One more theory I would like to explore (triggered by Dan Wells' response
about 1.0 and a commit I made to trunk back in early October):

Can you become the opensrf user, then show us the value of the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable?

sudo su - opensrf
echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
