[OPEN-ILS-DEV] BC OPAC development question

Hi, Deb.
I knew this wasn't a BC-specific customization, so I had to do a
little digging to figure out where this came from.
The material type indicator is based on field 6 (the sixth character)
in the leader of the MARC bibliographic record for the item. Only one
format lights up because the MARC standard only lets you define one
'format' in the leader.
You should be able to replicate this in your ILS by examining the same
field in your MARC records, and displaying an indicator accordingly.
As an aside, in Evergreen, multiple formats will show up if you do an
Advanced search at Evergreen's metabib level which combines formats
and editions. To demonstrate this, go to Advanced search in the BC
catalogue, do a keyword search for "harry potter and the sorceror's
stone", choosing 'Group Formats and Editions', and take a look at the
second result.
I hope this answered your question.
