[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Import demo, ident authentication error

Dear Listserv,
 
After attempting to beat linux into submission, I turn now to the gurus and those who've gone before me for expert help. ;)
 
I'm attempting to use the Import demonstration for Evergreen, found on http://open-ils.org/downloads.php.  When I get to step 4, 
"Load pg_loader-output.sql into database:
# Syntax: psql -U evergreen -f pg_loader_output.sql evergreen
 
I receive the following error:
psql: FATAL: Ident authentication failed for user "evergreen"
 
How do I fix this, so that I can continue onto step 5?
 
Also, as an aside, is there a place to search the archives of this listserv? :)
