Possibly. It seems to me that the user configuration step would be the
tricky part to get right - modifying the fully-qualified domain name
in all relevant spots, registering new ejabberd users at the new
domain, (and if you install it) modifying the user names and passwords
to avoid security exposures. There might also be some hardware
dependencies - what works on a ThinkPad T60 might not work on a Dell
server with a RAID array of SAS.
I still think the VMWare images are the quickest way to try out
Evergreen, but I'm obviously biased, and those have some networking
issues that can be vexing. I certainly wouldn't dissuade people who
have the time to try creating a LiveCD from trying it out.
