Thanks for your silence and patience!

I figured I might have corrupted the data somehow so I reloaded a fresh VM image.
Imported some records, Transcendenced them and successfully deleted the ones I wanted.

The only difference I can figure is I downloaded the trunk version of the quick_metarecord_map.sql and used that instead of the bundled version.
