[OPEN-ILS-DEV] ***SPAM*** Open Source Software Development Contract Available (Evergreen ILS)

Eastern Oregon University, Pierce Library would like to engage the services
of a programmer to develop specific functionality for the open source
Evergreen ILS software. The successful bidder will be responsible for
making the Evergreen ILS interoperate with OCLC's WorldCat Navigator. The
required interoperability includes the following capabilities:
- Essential item availability conveyed to Navigator via Z39.50 or other
means
- Place holds
- Check in/out
- Generate paging slips that can be used for routing through the Orbis
Cascade Alliance courier system
Tasks include, but are not limited to, designing, coding and testing
software. The successful candidate will use and contribute to the eXtensible
Catalog's NCIP toolkit as necessary to achieve the place holds as well as
check in/out functionality. Coordination with both OCLC and Orbis Cascade
representatives will be necessary to achieve interoperability.
The total value of the contract is $20,000; the contract is available
immediately and the expectation is that the work will be completed before
December 31. The well-qualified candidate will be able work remotely.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience using the following:
- Linux
- Perl
- Java
- RDBMS, preferably Postgres
Strong preference will be given to candidates demonstrating they are capable
of developing an NCIP interface adequate for WorldCat Navigator purposes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Evergreen experience
- Open Source software development
- ILS and library operations knowledge
- Knowledge of library standards
- Knowledge of NCIP
