[OPEN-ILS-DEV] On BibTemplate and other stuff

Thanks to Dan Scott's great presentation on BibTemplate at the
Evergreen conference, there has been a good bit of traffic on this
list about it. So, to help those looking to learn more about
BibTemplate, and expose some of the work that I've been doing on it
recently, I threw together a wiki page describing the API and giving
some example uses. You can find it here:

  http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opac:bibtemplate

Please let me know if it's of use, or not, or if you need more
clarification on anything.

Related, I know some folks have been working on BibTemplate-based
result pages. Not being able to resist the urge myself, I think I'm
ready to show what I've been doing in that regard.

First, some caveats:
  * It seems to hate IE right now. Working on that... Firefox and
Chrome (to the degree that Chrome puts up with Dojo) seem pretty
happy, though.
  * It is meant to replicate the current results page, not augment or
change it -- the Conifer team has a great experiment going on right
now that significantly changes the layout of the result page, and has
some different goals than mine. Both are important efforts, I think!
  * I've compromised by dropping some functionality (specifically,
linking from the format icons) that seems to be of dubious use, at
least on the non-metarecord result list
  * You'll also find a replaced sidebar (facets instead of new-search
tree!), which I hope to get into trunk soon (IE issues there too) and
I'd appreciate feedback about. Note, it's completely unrelated to
BibTemplate -- I'm just working on it in the same place.
  * And, you'll find an "Advanced" button under the simple search box.
Click it ... see (and say) what you think.

You can find all of that here:

A keyword search for "fiction" is a good example, I think.

(It's a development image, though, so don't expect it to be super
stable or fast -- especially once everyone on this list starts poking
at it.)
