Can you verify that ejabberd and memcache are running?
ps -aef | grep ejabberd

We want to see:

I am in the process of trying to get evergreen setup and have been having issues with our opensrf 1.6 install. I followed the instructions exactly and receive no errors when I start the services. The problem comes when I try to send a request to the framework:
opensrf at APLUBUNTU:~$ /openils/bin/srfsh
srfsh# request opensrf.math add 2 2
