Hi there,
My name is Ben Webb (I'm bjwebb on freenode) and I'll be working on
Evergreen over the summer as part of Google's Summer of Code. My
project involves working to package the Evergreen codebase in various
ways - my plan can be seen on google's site[0], but willl be updated
shortly since some Debian packaging work is already happening.
I've been working my way through installing and setting up Evergreen and
OpenSRF. As an Arch Linux user, I've not been able to follow the current
instructions verbatim, but hopefully in the process I'll be able to document how
to install for other users.
The current sources contain dependency lists for other major distributions, so
I've started adding a similar list for Arch (for Evergreen[1] and OpenSRF[2]).
To begin learning about Arch's packaging system, I packaged up a couple of the
missing dependencies and submitted them to Arch's User Repository (AUR).
I've noticed that Gentoo's dependency list have been removed from this file. I'd
be interested if anyone knows the reason for doing so?
I've currently got OpenSRF installed, and have recorded the commands necessary
to do so on Arch[4] (and converted the required changes to ejabberd
configuration into a patch). I am similarily part way through setting up
Evergreen itself[5].
Regards,
Ben
