The quickest way to get up and running with a test Evergreen system is 
to download the developer virtual image [1].  That link also points to 
some tutorial information about the underpinnings of Evergreen.

Our main IRC channel is #evergreen on Freenode, and that's the best 
place to go for quick answers about the development environment.  One 
thing to keep in mind, however, is that the majority of active 
contributors live in North America; while many of us are night owls, the 
channel is most active during UTC-4 working hours.
