[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Thoughts on having IRC practice meeting

Hello,
At a recent DIG IRC meeting we were discussing on how to increase participation in the EG community, and that we wished more community members joined our monthly IRC meetings. In the past I have heard of community members that were hesitant to use IRC. For example, some felt they were interrupting ongoing conversations and shied away from communicating on IRC. To that end I wanted to float the idea first to the dev list of at some point me scheduling and facilitating a half hour or hour long meeting specifically for newcomers to practice using IRC. I might tie this meeting to a Youtube screencast or tutorial webpage with very simple tips and examples for getting access to our IRC channel. This page[1] created by Kathy is a good start.
I just want to experiment with giving folks a designated time to practice using IRC, in a way that they will not feel that they are interrupting and where they will expected to be beginners practicing.
I am not an expert at IRC, so does it not have to be me facilitating, and I welcome others suggestions on how to run the meeting. Finally we can be flexible with the scheduling of this meeting so it does not get in the way of busy times because of upcoming releases and other scheduled IRC meetings.
Thanks,
Yamil
