Hi everyone
I am the Director of a large rural public library in Southern Alberta. Open
source has recently become an interest of mine as I am the "techie" type
person at the library. We expanded our library considerably a year ago and
decided to use Linux based "Discover Stations" running open source programs
for public access as opposed to regular Windows based machines. We have 12
of these and they are awesome! They are supported by an external company at
a minimal fee, and are just great for this kind of environment. Since the
upgrade to Horizon by Sirsi/Dynix in our region seems to be fading into
oblivion, Evergreen would be an interesting alternative I think.
I am enjoying reading this listserv and trying to decipher some of the
queries/comments!

Hope the introduction is still going on. I'm Grace Liu, a systems librarian
in a Canadian academic library. Before library school, I'd been a DBAdmin in
a securities company for many years. At that time, under that kind of
intense environment, nobody thought of open source. Library is a shared
world where open source probably is a good fit. I would like to look into
the Evergreen system from both as a librarian and an engineer.
