Incidentally, there is an Amnesty Mode for Check In sitting in the
trunk version of Evergreen, which doesn't require an explicit
backdate.  There's also Checkin Workstation and Checkin Scan Time
(which always tells the truth despite backdating) fields on
circulations now.
