Most of my staff use circ functions at some point, so it will be very
useful for them to have it turned on. I think I shall go do that now!

Congratulations!
If you love the button bar, you can always set the library setting
option to enable it as "on" for your libraries.
This is found in Local Administration --> Library Settings Editor; under
the section entitled "GUI: Above-Tab Button Bar" Setting this option to
true for any given library (or higher org unit) will enable the button
bar for the library upon launch. This removes the step of needing to
hit toggle later on, though this would mean that everybody would get the
button bar on their staff client (not sure how other staff feel about
that).
Just a thought that stuck to my mind.
