[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] search book catalog using xml service?

Hi,

I am a developer and I am tasked with interfacing
with an evergreen book database and return search results.
The purpose is to full-fill book requests/orders if books are found in
evergeen's database.  I am new to evergreen system.  Would someone
please give me some directions on interfacing w/ evergreen book
database, if there is a way for communicating via xml service etc...
