Subject: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] DIY Sys Admin Hackfest Session

Hello fellow sys admins,

This is a reminder that we will be having a dedicated time for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Sys Admin Interest Group during Wednesday's Hackfest session. Several of us have begun some thoughts on broad topics to help get the ball rolling, but we're sure there will be plenty more to talk about!

This is a short list of some ideas so far:

Virtualization - using Xen, KVM, and/or vmware
Hardware configurations - employing bricks and multiple servers
Backups/disaster recovery and planning
Using version control - svn, git, etc. (see Galen's email about git: http://georgialibraries.markmail.org/thread/hjee4clpodyv7jda)
Reports administration - dealing with runaway reports
Evergreen/PostgreSQL/Linux sys-admin tools round-up - config management, monitoring, bug tracking, etc.
Evergreen file structure - where are the files and what they do?
How best to setup/use discovery tools (Blacklight, SOPAC, Vufind etc)
Question Time (Q&A with sys admins)

Excited to see many of you in Decatur!

Regards,
