Of course, the still visible hold option in Evergreen when it does not work=
and the 0 copies listed are still confusing points for patrons that are on=
 our bug list.

I'm curious as to whether anyone has looked at the value of full integratio=
n into the catalog given the explosion of eReaders and patrons being able t=
o access material from web pages?

HI Lori,

I don't think we've done anything special, they're just MARC records with a

856 (and for us, also a $9, as we're on a cooperative instance of Evergreen=
, and we will all have different access links and catalouges that scope to =
only our library).

Here's a link to the Sitka documentation for cataloging non-physical

resources:

http://docs.sitka.bclibraries.ca/Sitka/current/html/transcendent.html

Is that helpful? I feel like I'm missing what your actual question may be.

Cheers,

Tara

Hi Tara,

We've been using the booking module since we went live with Evergreen in Au=
g 2010. Unfortunately, in all that time, we've never been able to resolve t=
he issue of not being able to see who has a particular booking. We have poi=
nt people on staff who print a booking list every day and we track things t=
hat way. Not very sophisticated, is it? We've brought up these problems in =
the past and it seemed that the only resolution would be further developmen=
t or re-design of the module itself, something that we are not capable of t=
aking on right now.

I'd also be interested in hearing if others have better ways of managing th=
e module.

Thanks!

Gordana

Hi,

We've started using the bookings module to manage our media bookings. Befor=
e it was a manual process and we're having some issues with getting Evergre=
en bookings to work for us.

Here are the main issues:

can't edit existing bookings, they must be deleted and re-entered so, an in=
structor can't pick up a booking late--we have to cancel the booking and re=
do it at the desk (which involves creating brief bibs for media titles that=
we've ILLed from other libraries) can't see who has a particular item out =
on a booking We can't be the only ones who've had difficulties with this. I=
'm wondering what other libraries are doing to make this work.

The first could be solved by being really strict about instructors picking =
up bookings on time (we are a small art school--this isn't going to happen,=
nor would it work). The second could technically be solved by a report--th=
ough circ staff don't have access to running reports and the time lag in ge=
tting the circ supervisor or me to run a report.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Cheers,

Tara

Hello Linda,

You do not need to change the file before installing, so you are fine there=
. Are you using the 'default' theme? You probably are, but if not, you wi=
ll need to edit the file in the directory matching your theme name rather t=
han 'default'. If you are using 'default', please feel free to post your c=
hanges so we can take a look. I'd bet you are pretty close.

Thanks,

Dan W.

from other libraries) can't see who has a particular item out on a booking=
We can't be the only ones who've had difficulties with this. I'm wondering=
what other libraries are doing to make this work.
