I'm a fellow newbie... but I found the installation of 2.0 under Ubuntu reasonably straightforward as documented here:
http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=server:2.0:install
It's still a bit involved, but I think it's gradually getting more streamlined (I tried to install 1.x several months ago and got stuck... but 2.0 went smoothly, with a little bit of help from the friendly team at the IRC channel: http://open-ils.org/irc.php).
If you just want instant gratification, you can also install a virtual machine image of Evergreen in VirtualBox or VMWare -- look near the bottom of this page:

Good luck!

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Newbie Question: Any live cd for evergreen?
Dear All
I'm new member of this list. Actually I'm user of Koha and working for support of Koha. We are looking to evaluate Evergreen. But I found the installation of Evergreen a little difficult for new user. Is there any live cd available so that we can try and install from that CD? Or any other easy to install procedure for Evergreen Server on Debian or Ubuntu?
Regards,
Ata
