If you have followed the installation instructions exactly, especially step 8 on this page: http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opensrf:1.6:install , then you don't have to worry about credentials for the private/public domains.

username: admin
password: open-ils

(Be sure this is the first thing you change if you begin using your system in a live instance!)

Now that you know this, start srfsh (as the opensrf user) and follow the instructions here: http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=server:1.6.1:install#testing_connections_to_evergreen . Does this work as shown in the example? If not, follow the troubleshooting steps here: http://evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=troubleshooting:checking_for_errors .

The staff client will not work if the underlying OpenSRF system isn't working. A "Network or server failure" message just means that the staff client was not able to receive an expected message back from the server. You need to perform the troubleshooting steps I link to above before trying to log in again.

Hope that helps!
