Hi Mary,
There are several ways in which you can create a selection list or PO or
combine those pieces together. You could, as you suggest, add all of
your items (brief records or bib records) to a selection list and then
convert it to a PO. Alternatively, you could create a new PO and add
brief records or bib records that you obtained from your vendor or a
MARC Federated search to the PO. In that example, you would skip the
selection list and simply add the records directly to the PO. Selection
lists are not required to build a PO.
If you're interested in more information about the acquisitions module
and acquisitions workflows, then you may be interested in the following
resources. GPLS is funding acquisitions documentation and sample
acquisitions workflows. These will be donated to the community upon
completion.
Also, because we have seen a great deal of interest in and many
questions on the mailing lists about acquisitions, ESI is offering two
opportunities for learning more about this module. The first is an
online acquisitions demonstration on Friday, February 11, from 12pm-3pm
EST. The purpose of this session is to demonstrate the functionality
contained within the acquisitions module. We will reserve a short
period for general questions about acquisitions functionality. The
cost of this session is $75 per participant.
In addition, ESI is offering individual consultations that will assist
you with designing workflows that will help you to best utilize the
acquisitions module. We can advise you about the functionality of the
module, and design solutions for using the module at your library. The
price for the consultation is $500 if the consultation is scheduled
prior to April 1, 2011.
If you are interested in registering for the acquisitions demonstration,
scheduling a consultation, or have questions about any of the resources
mentioned, you can email me off list at sfortin at esilibrary.com.
Thanks,
Sally
