[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Serials question: MFHD and receiving without creating a unit

I have a follow-up question.

If someone manually creates an MFHD, adding a free-text note in subfield z
of tag 852, that does not seem to display in the OPAC, only in the staff
client. We'd want the public to see that note. Is there something else to
add to the MFHD to make it visible to the public?

Thanks again,

Mary

Hi Mary,

The following answer applies to the serials "Batch Receive" interface, and
I'm pretty sure it applies to the Receive tab of the "Serials Control View"
as well, but others could confirm that if needed.

No, receiving copies of a serial does not update MFHD records, although it
does update holdings statements that are shown in the OPAC. These are
displayed next to a label of "Issues Held" when the org unit setting
"opac.fully_compressed_serial_holdings" is true at the appropriate scope.

Thanks,

Lebbeous
