We're planning on doing a quick Intro to IRC session at next year's
Evergreen conference (hey! have you registered yet?
http://eg2013.evergreen-ils.org ) as well as having volunteers around to
help folks get started on IRC.

It's not hard, if you've chatted online with someone you can use IRC.
