[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Cancelling copies on order

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has come across this problem or has a
workaround for it.

One of our customers reported that cancelling copies that are on order
does not actually remove the item record from the catalogue and these
items still show an on-order status.

I have done some testing and can confirm this behaviour. If you cancel
an orderline, then the associated items are removed but this does not
happen when you simply cancel a copy. It is not always practical to
cancel an orderline as often the quantity ordered is incorrect - e.g.
you have processed the order for 5 books but you only require 4 so you
wish to cancel one of these copies.

I have also tested this at the 2.2 Alpha release and the behaviour is
the same. I have looked for documentation / bug information etc but
cannot find anything relevant. It is maybe intended this way and staff
need to manually delete the items but it would be good to have some
confirmation of this in documentation.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Thanks,
Fiona
