Erica,

I appreciate the screenshots and the clear instructions about how this works.

Good Morning!

Hi Janet,

My patrons in the images below are fake. Sorry if the images are large; I am unsure of everyone's ability to open files, etc. So fair warning the images are large :)

When the Library Setting, Circulation, Patron Registration: Cloned Patrons Get Address Copy is set to False, the second patron will retain a link to the address of the original patron.
Patron Registration -> Register a New Patron -> Save and Clone
Address on the patron screen for the second patron will look like this:

[Inline image 1]

The second patron's account with the Edit tab open and scrolled down to address looks like this:

If I go back into Jimmy Brickman's account, and change his address (Patron Account -> Edit Tab -> change the patron's address -> Save), with the Edit tab open and scrolled down to the address, here's how Jimmy's account now looks:

When I go back into Alexis's account, Jimmy's new address carries over:

If the Library Setting, Circulation, Patron Registration: Cloned Patrons Get Address Copy is set to True, then the changed address of the cloned patron does not carry over to the other members of the group.
However, the use of this setting does not appear to be retroactive. What I mean to say is, how the address appears on the second account depends on how the value of the library setting was set at the time of the patron registration. In the next image, I set the library setting back to True. As you can see, Evergreen is still retaining the linked address on Alexis's account.

Whereas, any patron that I register moving forward with the library setting set to True will just receive the copy of the address, not the linked address. And, if I set the Library Setting to False these patrons will not automatically receive retro-activated linked addresses. I hope that makes sense.
Perhaps someone else knows of a way to retro-actively link patron addresses if a library decides to reset the library setting to False?

Does this help?

Michelle,

The address does copy when we clone records. My question actually had to do more with whether or not all addresses changed for members of a group when one address was edited. Jason seems to indicate this is possible, but I can't see how to make that happen.

Janet,

There is a library setting "Patron Registration: Cloned patrons get address copy" which will cause cloned records to get a unique address record that is a copy of the original patron's. Perhaps this is set to TRUE for your library?

Hope this helps,
Michele
