Hi Elaine,

If I am understanding your question correctly this bug is exactly what
you are looking for:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/833820

There are currently two ways to work around this in 2.2 and 2.4 (and
probably 2.3 as well):
1. Set up a OPAC-invisible shelving/copy location and use it for these
line items. The items won't display to your public and you can then
delete the items
and MARC records from the catalogue as needed when you catalogue the
items when they arrive.

2.Create a new purchase order and add the items as charges rather than
line items. You will need this fix in order to activate the PO with
only charges on it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1177916
The complication with this option is that you cannot currently select
charges from a purchase order and add them to a specific invoice. To
create an invoice for the charges (and un-encumber the funds) you must
create an invoice from the entire purchase order.

Hope this helps,

Jennifer
