[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Loading Batches of Patrons

Hey, Carrie!

In August I needed to do the same thing. I looked at the awesome scripts that Dan Scott has put together to sync via OSRF to our LDAP directory (link here<http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=contrib/Conifer.git;a=blob;f=tools/patron-load/ldap_osrf_sync;h=cf3c9b8edbffdb4d458baa2d88dcb61a2a7c0ac1;hb=9d1f461152bfc1079bd1647f25ebd872f5dc55f5>).

For my environment, I found that it was going to be a bit overkill. What we really need to do is import students at the beginning of terms. Now that we have a large batch in there, every import from here on out will be much smaller, too.

It took me a little while to find, but in the EG 2.1 official documentation there was a section about Migrating Patron Data: http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.1/html/migratingpatrons.html. I found that those scripts worked with almost no modification for me.

I didn't do the patron address queries, and everything still seems to be working fine. We're now running EG 2.4.2, but the batch import was done on EG 2.4.1 (maybe it was 2.4.0, but I don't think so).

Hope that's helpful.

Subject: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Loading Batches of Patrons

Hi Everyone,

Is there anyone out there loading batches of patrons? If so, which external systems are you extracting the patron data from? Are you able to share what scripts you run on the data?

Thanks!
Carrie
