[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Authorities

Eva,

Glad things are making more sense. I just wanted to let you know that
Evergreen may or may not get a little confused if you are using the
same thesaurus value in two separate control sets. For example, if you
are still using the LoC control set, by default it defines a thesaurus
value of "a" as a "Library of Congress Subject Headings". My concern
is that if you also are using a thesaurus value of "a" in your custom
authority control set for use with Czech
national authorities. This is based on comments from the developer
that created the control sets feature, since Evergreen could be
confused when it sees the value of "a" and not be sure which control
set to use.

Hope I am making some sense. If you are not repeating the same
thesaurus value in the Czech and Loc controls set, then you should be
fine.

Also, we are currently not doing batch authority updating, but the
consortium MVLC (in Massachusetts, USA) is doing it. They wrote some
scripts to automate some processes and I believe they are working with
a company called Backstage Library Works.

Good luck,
Yamil
